Digital Underwater Photographer
You don't necessarily need to invest in a massive underwater camera system to start taking great dive photos. A simple point-and-shoot camera will get you started. External flashes and strobes will help in many situations. If you think you will want to expand your system later on, take that into consideration if you are buying a camera, and check that the camera and its underwater housing will support external equipment.
You learn more about properties and how to choose camera equipment in the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course.
Digital cameras and underwater housings have made taking photos from your scuba dives easy and affordable. The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Course shortens the learning curve and teaches you how to get great shots quickly.
Digtal underwater photography does not need to be overly technical. There are several different types of digital cameras. They range from simple point-and-shoot cameras to sophisticated DSLR cameras. The basic concepts are same for all models.
If you are planning to buy a camera and underwater housing for it, the academics part - especially the Online version - of the PADI Digital Underwater Photography course is an excellent way to learn about different camera types, what they do for you and how much control over your images you have - or want to have - so you can make a more informed decision on which type is best for you.
