PADI eLearning Open Water Diver program guides you through the whole academic part of the PADI Open Water Diver course online at your own pace.

You'll complete all academic and pool sessions from the PADI Open Water course here in Hong Kong:

  • Knowledge Development to understand basic principles of scuba diving.

  • Confined Water Dives (pool) to learn basic scuba skills.

You can complete the academic part either by full self-study using PADI eLearning or PADI Touch programs, or by the more traditional method: a combination of self-study with course manual and DVD and two three-hour instructor led review sessions. Please see the PADI Open Water course page for more specific info.

After you have completed the theory and pool practise, you will be issued a Training Record and Referral Form, which you'll take with you and present to the instructor/dive shop you will do your open water dives with. The referrals are valid for 12 months after the completion of the last segment. Please see more info about the referral process.

How long does it take?

Pool practice is usually split into two sessions each about three hours. If you are doing the course one-on-one, the pool practice may be completed in one day in a long (6-8 hour) marathon session as well. The study options for the academic part allow you to choose the method that best suits your needs.

If you are doing the Referral course as a group course with an on-going Open Water course, you'll follow the regular course schedule.

Where?

The classroom sessions are held in our classroom in Sheung Wan. If you do the PADI eLearning/Touch online programs, you do not need to attend the classroom sessions.

Our pool sessions are run at Chi Fu Fa Yuen swimming pool in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong island. It is a heated indoor pool, and in many ways perfect for the Open Water course.
